The Zamfara State Police Command, has denied any abduction of worshippers by armed bandits in Gusau.

There was a report that bandits barricaded a mosque located behind NEPA at Samaru area under Gusau local government and abducted numbers of worshippers Ramadan prayer (Tuhajjud) around 2 am on Tuesday.

The spokesman of the state police command ASP Yazid Mohammed, while speaking to Vanguard, said there was no abduction of worshippers at Samaru area of Gusau.

According to him, people are only circulating a false report without authenticating the true situation, adding that the only episode was the killing of one Ashiru Mohammed a provision store business man living at Bulunku quarters and the abduction of his wife and a neighbor.

A source residing at NEPA area where the alleged incident took place, said there was no abduction of people in the area, stressing that they only noticed gun short from far while they are saying their Tuhajjud (Night prayer).

“We are saying our Tuhajjud (Ramadan Night Prayers) at the Jumu’at Mosque situated behind NEPA area, and we are normally guided by vigilante people surrounding the mosque to ensure safety of worshippers”, the source said.

When contacted the family of deceased business man who was killed by the bandits, (the elder brother Malam Mohammed), said his brother was gun down by the bandits for his refusal to follow them to the bush.

“The bandits after killing my brother, they went ahead to carry along with his wife and his little boy. Infact, we are in a terrible situation and we are appealing to the Federal and state governments to come to our aid from the dirty situation of bandit activities in Zamfara”, said Mohammed.
