Following a private jet crash yesterday at Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, or NSIB, has launched an investigation into the incident.
There were ten people aboard the Challenger 601-3R aircraft, which was owned and operated by Mattini Air and had the registration mark N580KR.
A statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NSIB, Mrs Bimbo Oladeji, noted that it has been notified of the incident and has deployed a Go Team to carry out an investigation.
She urged the public to provide relevant evidence or information that may be of help to the investigation, adding that a preliminary report will soon be released.
She stated: “The aircraft, with 12 passengers and three crew members onboard, was en route to Ibadan from Abuja. On the final approach to landing Runway 22, Ibadan Airport overshoot the runway.
“There was no fatality, as all passengers and crew were safely evacuated. The NSIB has deployed a Go Team to investigate the incident. As the investigating agency, NSIB needs and hereby solicits your assistance.
The public and media should respect the privacy of those involved and refrain from making assumptions about the reason behind the serious incident until an official report has been released, according to the Bureau. The preliminary report will be made available as soon as possible by the Bureau.
