Promotion Of Culture For Unity Is An Indelible Policy Of My Administration – Gov Idris
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, says, his administration will continue to promote the cultural values of the people of the state to strengthen unity and socioeconomic prosperity of the state.
Comrade Nasir Idris announced this in Birnin Kebbi this Friday, at the Agricultural Trade Fair component of the maiden edition of the Gwandu Emirate Horse Racing and Cultural Festival.
“On assumption of power, I promised to promote the peculiar culture of the four Emirates of Kebbi, this event of the maiden edition of Gwandu Emirate Horse Racing is a testimony to such fulfilment”,
“Already, Argungu has its Fishing Festival, Yauri has Rigatta, Zuru has Uhola, we shall continue to uphold the beauty of our cultural heritage to unite our people for tranquility and harmony”,
“I am thanking the Etsu Nupe for gracing the occasion, this event is historical, it’s the first of its kind”,
“The administration will create enabling environment for all the four Emirates in the Kebbi to display their rich cultural antecedents”,
“Kebbi State Government will collaborate with the four Emirates towards this objective, all cultural events have come to stay”, the Governor remarked.
Earlier, the Coordinator for the Annual Gwandu Emirate Horse Race and Cultural Festival, the Sarkin Bargun Kaoje, Alhaji Mustapha Usman Adamu, said the event was organised to promote, preserve the tradition of the emirate as well as to promote peace and unity amongst people of the state.
He commended Governor for his support and the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar .
Kebbi Commissioner for Commerce, Usman Ladan Dakingari, made it clear that Kebbi has been blessed with arable land for massive agricultural production, with water body for fisheries development.
“Recently, Kauran Gwandu administration paid compensation for land acquired for the LoLo Dry Port in Bagudo Local Government Area, this is in furtherance of the effort of Governor Nasir Idris to harness the resources of the state for economic growth”,
“The dry port would enhance commerce and trading activities between Kebbi and its two international neighbours, Benin Republic and the Republic of Niger”, Usman said.
“Chairman of the ceremony, the Coordinator, National Traditional Rulers’ Council of Nigeria, and Chairman, Niger State Council of Chiefs, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, described the cultural event as significant, praising Governor Nasir Idris for his support to ensure success.
“Governor Nasir Idris is a patriotic personality who has love and compassion for his people, he has consistently enhanced the welfare of the populace”, the Etsu said.
The Waziri of Gwandu, who represented the Emir, Alhaji AbdULLAHI Umar, on behalf of the Emirate Council, expressed immense appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris, for providing the necessary material and financial support for the success of the festival.
“Kebbi is an agricultural state, in view of the commitment of the Governor on agriculture, Kebbi has the potential to export Agricultural produce and products to the outside world soon”, Wazirin Gwandu said.
Comrade Nasir Idris in company of other dignitaries inspected various pavilions where agricultural products were on display at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi.
The governor also attended the Huttungo Fulani Festival, at Bulasa near Birnin Kebbi, to witness sheep racing.
The occasion was also a forum for herders to showcase the health of their animals and good feeding, how well-fed they are.
