Taraba pilgrims yesterday ended their pilgrimage to the Holy Land, lauding it as one of the best of such spiritual exercises in recent times. At the time of this report, all the pilgrims are on their way back to Nigeria.

Speaking to our correspondents on their experience, many of the pilgrims attest that the exercise went smoothly largely due to the expertise of the ground handlers and the local authorities. They hail the transparency and professionalism of the Taraba State Christian Pilgrim Board.

Various pilgrims said the arrangement was near perfect with every detail taken into consideration. The handlers also ensured pilgrims were well accounted for, always counting them at each stop.

The same care was taken for the welfare of pilgrims, especially feeding and medication. Ensuring that pilgrims had their three square meals, the handlers took time to look after the relaxation of the visitors. Twice on the trip, the pilgrims were given Nigerian cuisines as part of their meal.

But for Hon. Happy Shorunba, the details the tour guides put in their lectures caught his attention. He noted that the entire experience was like going to Bible school. He said, “Our own tour guide took his time to give us all the details we needed. He recounted his personal experiences, mixed with historical facts, to give us a great view of what many of us took for granted before this trip. His understanding of these matters as a citizen of Israel helped a lot in our tour of the holy sites.

For Asabe John, the entire trip helped her to understand how the rest of the world works almost perfectly. The orderliness and passion caught her attention as she observed how the drivers and other support staff work meticulously.

Many pilgrims were also grateful for the opportunity. One of the respondents said that without government support, she would not have been able to partake in the once in a life time experience. Speaking on government assistance, Dr. Filister Musa said pilgrims are very grateful to the governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for giving the citizens the opportunity. She said, “we are very happy and grateful. This is a gift given to us as an act of love. So I personally thank His Excellency for this beautiful experience.”

Consequently, pilgrims testified that the exercise went smoothly and hitchfree. They said they look forward to the next visit.
