Yuletide: LASTMA Deploys Personnel, Patrol Vehicles
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has deployed personnel, patrol, and tow vehicles to some areas in the state to ensure free movement during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, on Saturday.
Taofiq quoted the agency’s acting General Manager, Bakare Oki, as saying that the personnel have been deployed to facilitate unhindered traffic flow and promptly address any violations that may potentially prolong drivers’ travel times.
Bakare cautioned drivers against violating the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018 by not using seat belts, overloading, speeding, using phones while driving, and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The statement partly reads “As part of its statutory responsibilities in ensuring unimpeded flow of traffic across the State, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has deployed more personnel, patrol and tow vehicles to strategic locations across the state.
“The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan, disclosed that the agency is specifically dedicated to ensuring free-flow of traffic and prompt response to any infractions that could by any means extend the journey time of motorists.”
The statement quoted the GM as saying, the agency carried out an annual ‘Ember Months Road Safety Advocacy Campaign’ accompanied by aggressive public enlightenment, traffic control, rescue operation, and enforcement.
