Osun: Mob Sets Car Ablaze For Killing Teacher
ODE-OMU – After the Toyota Corolla was involved in an accident that claimed the life of Okunola K., a public school teacher, a mob is said to have set the car on fire.
The event happened on Tuesday in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade local government area of the state, according to Divisional Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Adigun Daniel.
It was gathered that the vehicle hit the said teacher of St. Michael Grammar School, Obada, Ode-Omu along Gbongan-Osogbo road leading to the victim’s death on the spot.
An eye witness, Laolu Adeola disclosed that the teacher after closing from school purchased cassava peel and was waiting to board a motorcycle to his Oogi-home when the incident happened.
While confirming the teacher’s death, Daniel disclosed further that the car’s driver eloped from the scene as the mob appeared uncontrollable.
“Effort to bring the situation under control was futile as it was at the market square. The mob, before anyone could move the vehicle, set it ablaze and it was burnt beyond recognition.
“The vehicle driver lost control of the car and veered off the road towards the motorcycle which was about to carry the victim. The motorcyclist escaped by jumping off the motorcycle.
“As soon as the victim’s death was confirmed at the scene of the incident, the mob set the vehicle on fire,” he continued..
