Police Arrest 3 Suspected Vandals Of Electricity Aluminium Cables In Kaduna
The Police Command in Kaduna State says its operatives have arrested three suspected vandals for suspectedly vandalising electricity aluminium cables in Lere Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna.
Hassan said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday along Yanbita Village on the Saminaka-Pambegua road in Lere Local Government Area of the state.
He said at about 3 p.m., one Insp. Musa Iliya attached to Special Assistant (SA) Project to Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State reported the matter while on an electricity project monitoring tour in Lere LGA.
“Their team saw some persons trying to cut cables from pole wires, patrol team was drafted to the scene.
“The three suspects, including Ibrahim Muazu, Murtala Suleiman, and Daniel Zakari, all fall within the range of 30 years of age,” the police spokesman said.
He said that all the suspects were from Ungwan Bawa in Saminaka, adding that they were found to have folded aluminium cables.
He explained that the suspects claimed to be working for Kaduna Electric as ad-hoc staff without any form of identification.
“The suspects mentioned one Sunusi Yahaya, a staff of Kaduna Electric, as the person who sent them, “Hassan said.
According to him, an investigation is ongoing, and relevant stakeholders at Kaduna Electric were informed.
