A suspected 35-year-old kidnapper was apprehended by Kaduna Police Command agents assigned to the Commissioner of Police monitoring unit, and an AK-47 rifle was found in the state’s Kagarko Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, in a statement, explained that the suspect was arrested on February 12, 2024, at 1300 hours or thereabout, while the operatives acted on credible intel and swiftly moved into action.

“The said suspect, a certain 35-year-old Adamu Shuaibu of Dumale village in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna, is a member of a bandits’ group terrorising villages within and around Jere. An AK-47 rifle was recovered from the suspected kidnapper.”

“Meanwhile, discreet investigation is ongoing as concerted efforts are being made to arrest the other members of his gang. Thereafter, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.”

Meanwhile, residents of Kalaye Road in the Hayin Banki community of Kaduna North Local Government Area, have expressed fear over the influx of strange individuals in the community, who were seen mostly in the morning and at night on commercial motorcycles.

A resident, who craved anonymity, said the strangers, who appeared to be between the ages of 18 and 25, were occupying a building that was recently vacated by a village chieftain who had since moved to his state of origin.

“Apart from the strange commercial motorcycle operatives, the place is always besieged by a youth group who smoke Indian hemp openly and chant slogans that frightened peace-loving neighbours,” he said.

According to him, the matter was reported to the Village Head but no concrete step was taken to restore peace and harmony in the area, even as the local vigilante group has been doing its best in the locality.
